I sing, I write, I speak, I share

Rock’in out on the guitar with this song.  Totally in love.  Finally, starting to get the hang of pairing my voice with the guitar.  Feels amazing and I can’t wait to share my music with YOU.

~New Energy

Today, my day was filled with ~new energy.

I’m building a new & solid foundation, therefore, all my actions feel new & right.

I have been on this journey… or this path for about the past year… to really zero in on what I love & what’s important to me, but I feel that I have reached another -new- level in my stratosphere.

…this was evidenced by the events of the day as I welcomed ~newness & freshness.

I always want to be exactly where I want to be because I find if I’m not then I’m not fully present and my mind is elsewhere so I made conscious decisions to choose where I wanted to be today… (because today is all that really matters) - not where other people thought I should be, but where I felt my soul was leading me…

It was fun.

After choosing to stay in last night to get a good night’s rest, I awoke to have a pleasant conversation over tea with my Australian roommate - we hadn’t had the chance before this morning to do this since I moved in a couple months ago…  As we sipped Orange Pekoe, we chatted about the interesting and comical differences between Australian and Canadian slang…my favorite is “I’m under the pump!” - Australian slang for “I’m super busy” or Canadian slang, “I’m under the gun!”  And, I learned that they swallow the end of their phrases so instead of saying “what are you doing this afternoon?” it would sound like “what are you doing this ah-veh?”  Funny.

Then, as testament to getting organized in my communication channels, I see a message from my cousin pop up… he’s in town from Calgary and happened to be sitting just around the corner on a sunny patio - I went to meet him and his wife, and had a delicious Green Tea.  I was so bombarded with emails this past while that I may have missed his message if I wasn’t on track this last week to stay totally up to date…glad I am.  Communication is flowing.

Then, with briefcase and laptop on my shoulder, I bid them farewell, and was on a mission to find a cafe to chill out at.  On my way, I see a sign “Peaceful Restaurant” and “Grand Opening” - I thought ‘hey, I’ll support a local start up” and get a bite.  This is when I thought about how I’m breathing ‘newness’ into my day.  The staff were new, friendly, and I could really feel the whole place saying, “we just opened!”  Exciting for them.

Then, I continued on my mission to find a cafe to sit down at in order to do a bit of work (don’t worry - it is what I call “Saturday fun work”;) ).  Wasn’t sure where I would end up, but happened to walk by Java Express…another local company; perfect.  And it was right across the street from (duh, duh, duh) … Starbucks.  The place was empty, super comfy, and a friendly Chilean made an Americano for me.  (HHmm…that’s quite a bit of caffeine already today!) …  And I actually noticed that it was super clean…again, newness & freshness.

The place was empty, until a friendly lad from Mexico came in who’s in town for the marathon tomorrow.  I chatted with him about Canadian politics and the election.  I educated him on Canada a bit… he now knows that Canada has a Prime Minister and not a President, that our “states” are called provinces, and that there’s 13 of them (oops, I forgot about the territories part!)

Then I went straight from the Java Express to a yoga, pilates, dance studio called Exhale.  It felt like a bit of a journey to get there as it’s tucked away in an alley.  Had a completely new experience here.  New environment, first time DanceHall class (amazingly fun and a super great workout!), new people…awesome.  I plan to go to a yoga class there tomorrow…

A quick recap.  Wanted to share the theme of my day with you.

What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment. And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new. Right now.” ~Anonymous

Wow! It has been awhile since I gave ‘My Voice’ some TLC.  …here ya go!

…a TED talk! ~ “The human voice: mysterious, spontaneous, primal.” With these words, soprano Claron McFadden invites us to explore the mysteries of breathing and singing, as she performs the challenging “Aria,” by John Cage.

Don’t focus on circumstances, because they don’t matter. Only state of being matters…focus on this; redefine circumstance.

…this guy rocks.

I challenge you to SMILE at yourself and your reflection for the next week.  Create this positive and powerful habit.  Give yourself a little “I’m here for you” or a “You’re Awesome” smirk then get on with your day, and notice how you feel; this positive energy will undoubtedly continue to flood through your body like a warm sunny day…and you may just notice some amazing things start to happen :)

Once Upon A Time…

Once upon a time there was a little girl who loved to sing, write, speak, and share.

She would sing to herself for others to hear.

She would feel her very soul soar.

She would speak her truth to those who were near.

Writing was never a bore.

As she grew older, ya, she shared her voice.

But her passion was slowly beaten up.

She felt, well, that she had no choice.

She was distracted most definitely, yup.

She was out of tune.

So she made a decision.

~A decision to listen.

~~A decision to BE.

What was her inner voice saying, PLEASE?

She said…

…”just be,”

….”get back to you,”

…..”do what you love by simply being true.”

She began to release.

She began to remove.

All of what was not in tune.

She replaced these spaces with what felt good and right.

Yes, her spirit guided her towards her light.

And it’s true.

And it’s fact.

It cannot be denied.

What?

That she loves to loves to sing, write, speak and share.

…~AND NOW, she can just BE…without any mediocrity.

My feet + my best friend in the whole wide world’s feet !  Enjoying a chat, coffee, some soft music off my iPhone…all outside in the sun in January at a little coffee shop called The Knotty Bean.  The nice storeowner had her patio tables and chairs all locked up for the winter, and brought them out just for us !

Spending time with my family in AZ for Christmas.  Listening to some Willie Nelson.

Dreaming of being back in Victoria to begin working with my band…yes, I said it! MY BAND!

I can’t believe it has been a month since I posted last.  So much has happened.  Amazing musicians have come into my life.

DRIVE

I sold my car today.

I made the decision to sell it a week ago and I set the intention that I would sell it within the week…and this happened.  When I make a decision, I act fast.  There’s no time to mess around.  GET IT DONE.

I have experienced the most change that I have ever experienced in my life over the past 6 months. I went from being in a serious/just-around-the-corner-from-being engaged relationship, with a “good job” in the corporate world-good pay, benefits, the works- and with a pretty sweet car that got me places.

I’m now boyfriend-less, “j-o-b”-less, and car-less…

All three were anchors that were weighing me down.  By cutting myself off from these anchors, I have created a vast amount of room for kites a.k.a people and places and spaces and opportunities that will lift and raise me UPwards and ONwards…and towards realizing and living my full potential!

I have never been so damn happy! I feel free, and light, and more than ready to spread my wings and fly, and to take on the world on my own terms!  I’m already well on my way.

Hannah Georgas lyrics to her Canadian Road Song “Drive” really resonate with me today.  I’m not driving a car anymore (these aren’t good for anyone), but I am most definitely putting my life in ‘DRIVE.’

DRIVE-

~I want the fast life

Give me the highway

I hear it call, I hear it call

Wind at my side

Songs that I wanna sing

I need it all.  Give me it all.

I get so restless waiting.

You give me time and I just dig further & further & further in.

But put it in DRIVE.

Watching the cities as they fly by.

The traffic lights are the only thing stopping me this time.
